It’s finally feeling like spring–finally! It’s seemed like a never ending winter, but we’ve had a few warmer days lately that have me eager to dine al fresco. Now that our son is growing up a bit more, we’re planning on inviting more friends and family to come visit us this month. My goals this month are focused on entertaining and hosting!
Make the effort to create meaningful ceremonies at mealtime
One of the best features of the house where we live is absolutely the huge, wide patio and the long sloping yard beyond. It feels like our own private park! The patio is bordered by huge hydrangea bushes. It’s a great place for entertaining and we love having friends over. I’d love to have a candlelit dinner party, or spend the afternoon playing badminton or croquet before having a barbecue.
Set a beautiful table
We have many plans already to have friends over this summer, so hunting down some lovely candles and table linens are crucial purchases this month. I have a beautiful set of table linens I purchased in Guatemala, but I’m also in love with India Amory’s tablecloths, especially the new fig leaf print!
Plan a dinner with a handwritten menu
I have so many favorite summer recipes–grilled swordfish, lobster salad, and an endless list of favorite cocktails–that planning a dinner party and writing out the menu would just add to the pleasure of having guests! I’m looking forward to crafting the perfect menu this summer and having friends over.
