5 TIPS FOR FINDING YOUR BLOGGING CONFIDENCE

The thing they fail to realise is that we all start at the same point, we all start with a blank slate and those so called ‘top bloggers’ will have had doubts in their ability at some point too.

There are days when I feel like I am failing as a blogger and yet I have people emailing me asking advice – so it just shows that even if you feel as though you aren’t doing well, there will be someone out there that looks up to you!

You are you and your blog is your blog. You can never compare yourself as you are unique. That blogger is on a different path to you and you need to find your own confidence and your own path.

So how can we all find our inner confidence and learn to project it outwards?

After a few years in the business I have picked up a few tricks that help me and hopefully they will help you too!

Fake it until you make it

Half the time it is all about faking it until we make it, which sounds ridiculous but I promise you it works. Confidence breeds confidence and so people will soon believe that you are an awesome blogger, just because you have told them you are! Now I don’t mean you actually go around boasting (nobody likes a show-off!) but don’t be afraid to introduce yourself at events, don’t be afraid to jump in and offer advice in FB groups  – be proud of who you are and people will be drawn to you!

List your achievements

You can either do this on your blog (Aby runs The List and I run the Happy Days linky, both are perfect for doing this!) or keep a journal if you aren’t quite ready to publish achievements (although remind yourself of the point above ^). By writing down everything you have achieved each week, you will soon realise how well you are actually doing and it will spur you on to do even bigger and better things.

I know I have self confidence issues stemming from childhood and at times this can make me doubt myself as a blogger.  But being more like them isn’t staying true to who I am as a blogger. The thing people fail to realise, is that people are drawn to certain blogs because they feel a connection with that blogger. Be it that they are at a similar stage in life, or they look up to them for some reason.

Well, people will come to your blog because they like you. If you are busy trying to be someone else, your readers might as well go off and read that other someone’s blog, right? Be you and likeminded people will find you and most importantly they will love you for you.

Have a facelift

Obviously I mean a blog facelift here haha! It works exactly the same as going to get your hair cut – you come away feeling a million dollars don’t you? So, if you feel like you are stuck in a rut, don’t have the confidence to approach brands or promote your blog – give it a facelift! Aby wrote a fab post a few weeks ago, sharing some quick fixes and most are either free or cost nothing in the long run. We recently gave LLB a facelift (do you like it?) and it gave us a renewed love of the site!

Go for it!

The thing you have to remember is that even the most confident bloggers get turned down for opportunities. So if you have a great idea for a collaboration then shoot the PR an email – what is the worst that can happen? They say no? Is that the end of the world? Of course not! I have pitched to brands, only to be turned down or completely ignored. It can be disheartening but I try and remind myself that I won’t be the perfect fit for every single brand out there and something better will be waiting just around the corner.

So, I don’t want to hear any more of this ‘I am not a big blogger’ or ‘I will never make it’ as this negative thinking will most definitely hold you back.  And remember, you cannot compare to anyone else-  so be you and you will be just fine!
